Artist's Description
The F Ring is the outermost discrete ring of Saturn and perhaps the most active ring in the Solar system, with features changing on a timescale of hours. It is located 3000 km beyond the outer edge of the A Ring. It was discovered in 1979 by the Pioneer 11 imaging team. It is very thin, just a few hundred kilometers wide, and is held together by two shepherd moons, Prometheus and Pandora, which orbit inside and outside it.
About David Robinson
David Robinson is a 2D and 3D digital artist. He has been a member of and staff artist for Ad Astra Magazine for the National Space Society. He is also the current staff artist for the Orange County Space Society California and the Journal of United Societies in Space, Inc. He has created artwork for the Mars Homestead Project to book cover illustrations dealing with astronomical and astronautical events dealing with both human and non human space travel.
